This position is Full Time, Days shift
The Nursing Tech in the MedOnc (Oncology) Department provides basic nursing care to Oncology patients under direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
The Nurse Tech provides personal care assistance to patients including bathing, dressing, eating and transportation, procedures including sterile dressings, blood glucose testing, collection of specimens and enemas. Prepares patients for scheduled procedures to assist in patient assessment. Monitors clinical condition of patients and reports changes to appropriate personnel. Charts and documents observations according to hospital policy and procedure. Handles and transports patients, specimens, blood products, and medications in a safe and efficient manner. Maintains adequate floor stock as needed for unit/departmental operations. Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards. Performs other job duties relevant to the position as assigned. Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Post High School vocational / specialized training preferred.
One (1) year experience in hospital or nursing home preferred.
Preferred candidate will have prior experience working in a hospital setting.
Ability to read, communicate, and document effectively through oral, written, or electronic means; excellent customer service skills; ability to prioritize and respond promptly to a changing workload.
Required: "BLS certification" American Heart Association
