Job Description

Position is Part Time , 24 hours weekly with overnight call.

 

This position requires cleaning and maintaining of the Endoscopy scopes following the manufacture IFU. It also requires working with the Lab and infection control department to ensure scope testing is completed on a regular schedule. Acting as a resource for the Endoscopy staff is required, as is working with the CS department to cover after hour call.

Performs all aspects of scope cleaning and high level disinfection. Responsible for the chemical monitoring of the automated endoscope re-processor. Acts as resource for the endoscopy staff.

The Scope Tech in the GI Lab is a Sterile Process Tech for the GI department and is responsible for the cleaning and disinfection of scopes after procedures are completed .  Responsible for monitoring the sterilizing equipment and the ordering of scope room supplies and high level disinfectant.

Coordinates with staff regarding any immediate turn-around instrumentation/scopes and utilizes the next day's procedure schedule to set priorities.

 

Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements

Education:                

High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience required.  Completion of certification course as a Sterile Processing Technician strongly preferred.                                                

Experience:                

Must have previous OR/SPD/GI experience; 1 year minimum.

Previous experience with surgical instruments/equipment processing and terminology preferred.
