Job Description

Position is Part Time,  3 -  8 hour shifts

Position Purpose                                                                

Coordinates, Plans and Evaluates care of Ostomy patients and patients with compromised skin integrity.        

Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process. Assists with the implementation of plan of care. Provides acute and rehabilitative care for people with select disorders of the GI, GU and integumentary systems. Provides direct patient care to persons with abdominal stomas, wounds, drains, fistulas, wounds and incontinence. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. 

Provides competent, safe and efficient patient care utilizing the nursing process.  Accurately and legibly obtains photographs, measurements and assessments and documents all assessments, interventions and orders according to policies and procedures. Transcribes and reviews all wound care appropriate orders in a timely manner. During patient encounter, monitors clinical condition of patients and reports changes to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.  Ensures accurate, timely communication among coworkers, timely communication to charge nurse/supervisor of issues) to include appropriate chain of command when indicated. Provides and documents effective and timely staff and patient/family education related to pressure ulcer prevention and wound care treatment.

 

Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements

Education:

Required:  Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.

Preferred:  Successful completion of Wound and Ostomy Care education program.

 

Experience:

Required:  Two (2) years of acute care experience.

 

Licenses/Certifications:        

Required:

Arizona RN License or compact state license

American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification.

WOCN certification within 12 months of hire.
