This GI Lab Tech position is part-time days - No Nights, No Weekends, No Holidays! Great opportunity for an experienced GI Lab Technician in a busy multi-specialty outpatient surgery center. Working at the Tucson Surgery Center located at 1398 North Wilmot, Tucson, Arizona 85712


Assist in the nursing care of the endoscopic patient by performing duties and related activities, within scope of practice, for endoscopic procedures, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. Additionally, performs all aspects of scope cleaning and high level disinfection. Responsible for the chemical monitoring of the Automated Endoscope Reprocessor (AER). Assists with preparing rooms with needed appropriate instruments, supplies and equipment. Assists with procedural set ups. Functions as part of the procedural team, anticipating needs of physician, and working within scope of practice during endoscopic procedures. Assists with positioning of patients during procedure. Exhibits thorough understanding of endoscopes and their workings.  Ability to process and troubleshoot endoscope problems. Handles specimens/cultures according to policy. Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment, instruments and supplies returning them to proper locations, securing cabinets as required. Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures to ensure minimal turnover time. Manually decontaminates, inspects, and performs leak test of scopes prior to processing. Cleans and disinfects all patient care equipment. Loads the Automated Endoscopic Reprocessor properly. Tests the high level disinfectant prior to each wash, checks the temperature of each machine and records it at the beginning of each day. Follows policy if out of range. Checks scopes for proper working condition. Wears PPE while handling and cleaning dirty scopes. Ensures the automatic door is properly closed while cleaning scopes. Performs pre-clean of scope at BS in the procedure room and transfers scope in a covered bin to the scope room.
