Job Description

Position is Full Time Day shift 7a-7p

The Emergency Room Tech at Northwest Medical Center, Emergency Department, gathers patient information for emergency room patients in the functional areas of admissions, discharges, insurance verification and emergency room treatment records.

The Emergency Room Tech Provides basic care to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, handles and transports specimens, provides phlebotomy procedures under the directive of a registered nurse and observes patients and notifies nurse when patients need to be assessed.                                                        

 

Education:               

High School diploma/GED preferred or equivalent experience required. Post High School vocational/specialized training preferred.

 

Experience:               

One (1) year of clinical experience as a nursing assistant, EMT, monitor tech, or unit secretary, preferably in the area of application.

One (1) year previous phlebotomy experience in a health care setting OR certification as a phlebotomist through an accredited agency required .

 

Skills:

Proficiency in patient care and oral communication skills. 

Must be able to follow directions and perform work according to department standards under the supervision of an RN.

 

Licenses/Certifications:

Current BLS certification card - Must be American Heart Association
