Job Description

Northwest Medical Center is a 300-bed hospital offering a full range of healthcare services including emergency services, accredited chest pain and heart failure programs, neurology and neurosurgery, outpatient imaging, a nationally accredited surgical weight loss program, total joint program, spine program and stroke center (recognized with Gold Seal designations by The Joint Commission), robotic surgery, GI lab, a free-standing women’s center, inpatient rehabilitation facility, wound care center, five urgent care facilities, and three ambulatory surgery centers. Summary: Performs all CT diagnostic techniques and examinations by established protocols.

Essential Functions:

1. Positions patients and operates equipment to produce the most reliable and informational data.
2. Performs all CT techniques and examinations by established protocols.
3. Maintains patient documentation appropriately.
4. Processes images, posts processes and completes examinations appropriately.
5. Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality, completeness and type of test ordered: ensures quality images.
6. Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.  
7. Assists physicians with procedures, scans patients and maintains sterile techniques when necessary.
8. Positions and transfers patients comfortably using established procedures.  Transports patients as necessary.
9. Selects and operates equipment as directed, performs QC/QA tests as needed.
10. Performs radiographic examinations as necessary.  Effectively identifies predictable problems and plans and provides patient care, based on the age of the patient served.
11. Instructs/supervises students as appropriate.


Education: High School or equivalent. Graduate of an Accredited two year Radiologic Technology program. Training in CT modality preferred.

Experience: Direct experience in CT and/or MRI modalities preferred.

Skills: Familiarity with ALARA Dose reduction principles, cross-sectional anatomy or currently enrolled in cross-sectional anatomy course, Multi-Detector CT scanners and Protocols for the various exams and with safe Intravenous Injections practice and use of Power Injectors.

Licenses/Certifications: "Required: ARRT registration and MRTBE certification; American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification. 
Preferred: Advanced certification in CT."
