The Nurse Tech inthe Acute Care Telemetry (step down) department provides basic nursing careto  patients under direct supervision ofa licensed nurse.

The Nurse Techprovides personal care assistance to patients including bathing, dressing,eating and transportation,  proceduresincluding sterile dressings, blood glucose testing, collection of specimens andenemas.  Prepares patients for scheduledprocedures to assist in patient assessment. Monitors clinical condition ofpatients and reports changes to appropriate personnel. Charts and documentsobservations according to hospital policy and procedure. Handles and transportspatients, specimens, blood products, and medications in a safe and efficientmanner. Maintains adequate floor stock as needed for unit/departmentaloperations. Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment forpatients/families in accordance with hospitalstandards.         Takes a sense ofownership regarding other related duties as assigned. Performs other job dutiesrelevant to the position as assigned.        



Qualifications

Education:

High School Diplomaor equivalent required. 

Post High Schoolvocational / specialized trainingpreferred.                                                

Experience:

One (1) yearexperience in hospital or nursing home preferred.

Skills:        

Ability to read,communicate, and document effectively through oral, written, or electronicmeans; excellent customer service skills; ability to prioritize and respondpromptly to a changingworkload.                

Licenses/Certifications:

Required:

BLS certification(American Heart Association)
