Job Description

Summary:  Performs a wide variety of tasks including restocking of supplies, maintaining inventories, compiling stock records and addressing distribution issues of departments outside of the hospital building.

Essential Functions:  

1. Stocks warehouse items in proper warehouse location maintaining FIFO stock rotation and warehouse order & cleanliness.  Prepares warehouse stock items for general distribution from the proper warehouse location including tagging for use as patient charge items.

2. Performs equipment rounds to insure patient care equipment is properly stocked, clean, and ready for next patient use.

3. Receives requests (pull sheets) for supplies, selects stock from inventory and distributes supplies to designated areas.  Expedites processing of goods in accordance with priorities and predetermined schedules.

4. Performs data entry into computer systems per established procedures maintaining keying accuracy and efficiency.  Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.

5. Inventories routine supply storage areas and replenishes par levels.  Inventories specialty supply storage areas, maintains familiarity with all products, and replenishes par levels.

6. Establishes, organizes, and maintains Par areas with accurate par locations, labels, and inventory count sheets.

7. Performs weekly "QOH's" in warehouse to verify accuracy of perpetual inventory.  Corrects on-hand variances per procedure with accuracy .

8. Assists in maintaining the integrity of perpetual on hand accuracy by participating in all Semi-Annual inventories and routine cycle counts.

9. Notifies appropriate personnel when in-house stock reaches order point or when ordered material is past scheduled delivery date.

10. Performs other job duties relevant to the position as assigned.


Education:  High School diploma/GED preferred or equivalent experience required.

Experience:  At least one year of experience as a Distribution Tech I required or at least two years of experience in medical and surgical distribution required.

Skills:  Ability to read, communicate, and document effectively through oral, written, or electronic means.  Familiarity with medical terminology, computer experience, and excellent customer service skills.  Ability to prioritize and respond promptly to a changing workload.
