Job Description

PositionSummary: 

Responsible forpatient meal service on assigned units, e.g., menu selections, tray assembly,tray delivery and pick up, special requests and needs, in-between meal fooddelivery.  Communicates and addressespatient food issues/concerns and needs to Food & Nutrition Services.Interacts with Nursing in regards to patient nutrition needs or requirements aswell as unit food service needs.  AssistsDietitian with monitoring duration of diet orders (i.e., NPO, and clear liquiddiets). Reacts accurately and effectively to all changes to ensure efficienttiming of services, accuracy of physician’s ordered modified diets.  Is familiar with dietary restrictions onspecial, modified diets to ensure optimal food preferences are met withinguidelines of diet order limitations. Responsible for quality service reflectedin internal or external patient satisfaction survey results on assigned units.



Qualifications

Education:

High School or GEDpreferred.  

Experience:

Knowledge of foodand nutrition, familiarity with medical terms related to nutrition.  Customer service experience.

Experience in ahealthcare environment preferred.

Skills:

Strong verbalcommunication, reading, and writing ability. Ability to follow written and oral instructions, follow establishedprocedures, and complete simple computations. Provide good customer service to patients, nursing staff, andco-workers.  Ability to individuallymanage timelines.
