Job Description

Position Purpose

Sets up and serves high quality nutritional meals to patients. Includes a variety of duties related to the serving of food, assists patients with menu selection , works modified diets and coordinates diet adaptations with house menus.

1.Provide meal services for patients to include taking menu selection, delivery meal trays and snacks, catering rounds and retrieving trays.
2. Assemble patient meal tray following all standards, to include dietary guidelines, food quality, temperature, portion size, also adhering to patient personal preference, allergies, cultural, ethnic and religious preferences.
3. Communicates with unit nursing personal, dietitians, speech therapy and chefs to ensure all dietary requirements are accurately adhered to and that it meets the patient’s needs.
4. Ensure all diet changes, meals and functions of the job are completed in a timely manner.
5. Maintains all unit food supplies, rotate supplies using FIFO, remove any expired supplies from services area, and maintain temperature logs as required.
6. Promptly communicates customer concerns or process concerns, Is knowledgeable of the service recovery plan. Uses service recovery if needed.
7. Adheres to Department standards, Pima County Health department regulations, JACHO standards. Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment.
8. Follows facility and department protocols for Hazardous Material and waste program.
9. Participates in department meetings and staff development programs.
10. Demonstrates efficiency in computer software, electronic department communication, and diet related information.
11. Performs other job duties relevant to the position as assigned.



Education: High School diploma or GED preferred
Experience: Dietetics: Knowledge of foods and nutrition, familiarity with medical terms related to nutrition, and customer service experience.
Skills: Customer service. Following written and oral instructions and established procedures.
